The Challenge
Parks & Trails Organisation, a group of passionate hiking enthusiasts, envisioned creating Hong Kong's first comprehensive 65km coastal trail by connecting existing promenades and hiking paths around Hong Kong Island. Their goal was to promote urban walkability, access to nature and heritage, healthy sustainable living, and responsible travel.
The challenge was to create an engaging digital platform that would:
- Enable participants to explore the trail at their own pace with accurate GPS tracking
- Gamify the experience with interactive scavenger hunts to encourage deeper exploration
- Support both leisure participants and competitive racing groups
- Build a community of environmental and cultural ambassadors
- Provide comprehensive event management and participant tracking capabilities
Our Solution
RedSo developed a comprehensive digital ecosystem combining mobile app, web platform, and cloud infrastructure to power the Hong Kong Island Coastal Trail Challenge.
GPS Route Tracking
Real-time GPS tracking with built-in maps allows participants to record their activities and monitor progress across all 8 trail sections. The system accurately captures walking routes, distance, and completion status.
